Quantifying demand flexibility of building energy systems under uncertainty

Quantification of demand flexibility is key importance to decision makers at the planning level, when designing response programs and determining capacity requirements for new battery storage installations, and, operation assessing demand-side potential providing grid services. While different frameworks have been proposed quantification, literature still lacks a framework that considers uncertainty sources, affecting building energy control problems, directly quantifying potential. We propose novel based on stochastic model predictive direct quantification in bottom-up manner can account uncertainty. The utilized quantify under arising from weather forecasts available reduced-order model. results are compared with those obtained using an existing deterministic approach. demonstrate approach tends overestimate ignoring uncertainty, occupants’ thermal comfort may be jeopardized if asks estimated study accentuates developing accurate model-based owing significant effect modeling
